Located just south of Atlanta, Clayton County offers its residents the best of metropolitan living. Clayton County's proximity to four interstate highways and the fact that it is home to Hartsfield International Airport (one of the world's largest and busiest airports) make it convenient for people on the go. The City of Lovejoy is located ten minutes from the Atlanta Motor Speedway and 30 minutes from the very heart of Atlanta.

There are seven public schools: Hawthorne Elementary, Kemp Primary, Kemp Elementary, River’s Edge Elementary, Michelle Obama STEM Elementary, Eddie White Academy Middle, and Lovejoy High School, one regional library, and a state-of-the-art athletic facility. With approximately 50,000+ students attending 70 schools including twelve high schools, the Clayton County Public School System is the fifth largest school system in the state of Georgia. All high schools house grades 9-12.

The Lovejoy High School professional staff consists of six administrators, department heads in all major subject areas, counseling, physical education/athletics, and an instructional staff of over 150 professionals. Lovejoy High School is a fully accredited school through AdvancED – Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and school Improvement (SACS CASI). 

There are numerous service leadership programs at Lovejoy High School, such as Key Club, HOSA, SADD, FBLA and Habitat for Humanity. Additional extracurricular activities include Student Government Association, French, Chinese Language & Culture, Orchestra and Marching Band.
 
Lovejoy High School competes in the Georgia High School Association's 6A classification under the mascot of the Wildcat with the colors of Columbia blue, white and gold.  In the last few years, our athletic teams have competed in state playoffs.  The athletic department has also been competitive in sending athletes to college with scholarships.

All Lovejoy High students have access to numerous courses in technology and a wide variety of course offerings that accommodate the educational needs of students. The students not enrolled into the magnet program have access to Advanced Placement, honors, gifted, and special education courses. The enrollment is 2100+ students in grades nine through twelve. Lovejoy High School is a Title 1 funded school. All Clayton County Schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which is a meal service option for school districts in low income areas to provide children meals at no cost. The school opened in August of 1989. The Class of 2023 consists of 400+ students. 

Our demographics are 81.5% African American, 13% Hispanic, Less than 5% Asian, Multiracial & Caucasian, and less than 1% American Indian and Native Hawaiian. Our student body is 53% male and 47% female. Approximately 3% of our population are English Language Learners and 14.5% have a serviceable disability.

As a comprehensive high school, the school offers four different year-long classes each of the two semesters. The first semester credit is assigned in January and the second semester credit is assigned in the first week of June. Our diversified curriculum features Advance Placement, college level, gifted, and honor classes. Lovejoy High School is in session for 180 instructional days.
