Dr. Gregory B. Kirkland serves as an Assistant Principal of Lovejoy High School.   He has worked in the areas of Health, Physical Education and Special Education over the last 22 years.   He has served as a Health and Physical Education teacher in Denver, Colorado, Jacksonville, Florida, Crescent City Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina before coming to Clayton County Public Schools.  Here in Clayton County Public Schools, he has served as the Special Education Department Chair and consultative teacher at Jonesboro High School for 5 years before becoming the Athletic Director at Morrow High School.  After serving a year and a half at Morrow High School, Dr. Kirkland served as the Academic Coordinator for Health and Physical Education for three and a half years.  

Dr. Kirkland completed his undergraduate studies at Valdosta State University majoring in Health and Physical Education.  He received his Master’s degree from East Carolina University where he studied Health Education and Promotion.  He received his Specialist Degree from Georgia College and State University degree in Educational Leadership before completing his Doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Valdosta State University.   

In his spare time, Dr. Kirkland enjoys spending time with his family, watching and participating in sports, and reading.  During the Fall, you will be able to find him in Tuscaloosa, AL cheering on his favorite College football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide!
